Double Shovel Outfitters
At Double Shovel Outfitters, we strive to show you the Alaska we call home. We offer quality big game hunts in Alaska’s arctic for caribou, moose, and grizzly bear. Hunters may also have opportunities to take wolf or black bear as secondary game species. We operate on two federal exclusive concessions within the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge.
Double Shovel Outfitters also provides guided Arctic Raft Trips on the Porcupine, Coleen, and Sheenjek rivers. These custom float trips allow visitors to explore some of Alaska’s most spectacular wilderness. For experienced river travelers who wish to explore other arctic rivers, we offer river trip outfitting, raft rentals, and shuttle services.
Working only with the most seasoned Alaskan guides, Double Shovel Outfitters is a close-knit team dedicated to your quality experience.
Guided
Hunts
Double Shovel Outfitters specializes in guiding big game hunts in Arctic Alaska. Our three federal exclusive guide use concessions provide quality moose, caribou and bear hunting. All of our trips are fully guided fly in only hunts. Our high hunter success rate is due, in part, to the extreme remoteness of our camps. While we pride ourselves on a high success rate for our guided moose caribou and bear hunts, we also strive to provide hunts that are once in a life time experiences.
Guided
River Trips
Join us on a guided raft trip in Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Our custom float trips allow guests the opportunity to tour the vast sweeps of remote Alaska in comfort. While floating one of the Brooks Range tributaries you will have the opportunity to view wildlife, fish, and explore spectacular canyons. Most of our river trips are run in 14 foot self bailing rafts and can accommodate two to three clients and one guide per boat.
Raft Rentals
& Outfitting
Double Shovel Outfitters offers raft rental services based out of Fairbanks, Alaska. If you are planning an unguided river trip in Arctic Alaska, we can help you with your trip logistics planning and gear. We offer a large variety of self bailing rafts, oar frames, SOAR inflatables and river rafting gear. We also offer other necessary equipment for Arctic River trips such as bear proof containers, tents and kitchen sets.
Quality Hunts in Remote
Alaskan Wilderness
A quality hunt is not simply a hunt with a high success rate with large animals taken. We take pride in providing our hunts in locations where no other hunting parties will be encountered. The remote wilderness locations of our hunting camps allow solitude for our hunting parties that we value highly. Rotating camps in our large hunting areas and taking small numbers of hunters, we manage our wildlife impact. This helps ensure our clients get the best opportunities at taking trophy class caribou, moose, and grizzly bear.
Experience the Inaccessible
Join an Arctic Float Trip
Come join us on a float trip though remote Alaska. We provide trips that are foremost wilderness experiences, with rafting or hunting as more of a medium for the experience, rather than the object of the trip. Our custom raft trips allow small private parties and individuals to experience solitude without the dynamics of a large tour group. We allow our guests the opportunity to set their desired pace down the river leaving time for hiking and fishing.

Alaskan Hunting Guide:
Charlie Jagow
You won’t meet a big game hunting guide more Alaskan than Charlie Jagow. Born and raised in the heart of northern Alaska, Charlie grew up running the family trapline with a dog team and snowshoes. When others were learning to read books, Charlie was becoming fluent in understanding wildlife signs in the wilderness of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. He built his own log home deep in remote arctic Alaska, and he flies his own airplane to access it. It’s no wonder that Discovery Channel chose to feature Charlie in The Last Alaskans.
